I am begging people to read this book,it is one of the most read books by MBA students in the world due to its simplicity of explaining the status on how the world is turning now... which is a good read for everyone... especially our politicians... because this book does touch some of the newest business rules that we should follow so that we can work hand in hand with other countries such as China. Go pick it up, the book is not expensive after discounts... go and pick up the book, YES... I mean NOW!!!

Why Bill Gates' world is flat
By Tim Weber
Business Editor, BBC News website, in Davos
Globalisation may be unavoidable, but what impact will it have on our lives?
It's ten to seven in the morning; it is dark, snowy and dozens of millionaires are patiently queuing to get inside for breakfast.
The prospect of a 90-minute breakfast conversation with Microsoft boss Bill Gates and New York Times columnist Tom Friedman has persuaded them to brave the freezing cold.
With rapt attention they listen to Mr Gates telling them that "The World is Flat" (which is the title of Mr Friedman's most recent book).
It's a cute little metaphor, and heard in many sessions during the five days of the World Economic Forum.
The big disruption
The argument goes like this: More and more parts of the world are getting the infrastructure that allows them to become part of the always-on world.
China, for example, already has more mobile phones than there are people in the United States and in four years, says Mr Gates, the country will have more broadband connections than there are US households.
Combine this connectivity with good transport links and productivity soars in places like India, Brazil and Russia. More importantly, though, one billion people suddenly join the global workforce.
BT boss Ben Verwaayen explains the impact: "Something profound has happened over the past three years, as disruptive as the invention of the steam engine."
"For the first time", he says, "you don't need physical proximity for a joined up company."
Or as Bill Gates puts it: It doesn't matter whether you sit in Boston, Beijing or Bangalore, if you are smart you can now compete directly with the rest of the world "on a level playing field" - in a world that is flat.
It obviously works for Microsoft. The Beijing research lab is one of the company's most productive, says Mr Gates.
When he recently met his firm's ten best-performing employees, he says half-jokingly, nine of them "had names I couldn't pronounce".
Losing four million jobs
In this flat world, it doesn't matter whether your accountant sits in Marlborough or Mumbai, and whether your customer care centre is based near Sausalito or Soweto.
Your factory's supply chain is fully integrated, and stretches from Shenzhen and Chennai to Central Europe.
It makes for lean, efficient companies. It drives down cost, improves profits and keeps inflation low.
But it also means that many workers are losing their jobs.
"In Europe we could run out of jobs, and those that still have jobs will have to take care of an ageing population, says Stefan Delacher, a director with Thiel Logistics, which specialises in organising global supply chains.
David Arkless of Manpower predicts that four million people will see their jobs transferred over the next five years.
Search for solutions
"On a macro level," says BT's Ben Verwaayen, "it is easy to see the win-win."
But if your job goes overseas it is difficult to be positive, he warns.
The fate of the victims of globalisation worried many Davos participants.
"How can workers in the West hang on to their jobs?" was a much debated question.
Be flexible and don't specialise too much, said Jagdish Bhagwati of Columbia University. Health and pensions systems should not be set up so that workers find it difficult to change employers, he added.
Others said lifelong learning could be the answer. Make your job, your work, your knowledge ever more valuable.
But obviously Chinese and Indian workers are doing just the same.
It's wrong to tell people that going to university will guarantee them a job, says Adair Turner, the chairman of the UK's low pay and pensions commissions, because the technology sector simply won't offer that many jobs.
"Everything that can be automated will be automated," he predicts.
"Already we only create jobs that are face-to-face... in hospitality, retail, tourism, healthcare," says Mr Turner.
Chris Dedicoat of technology giant Cisco echoes the argument and says: "The stigma of vocational training has to be removed if the economies of Europe want to have jobs for all".
Don't panic
So should we all become nurses, plumbers and hair dressers?
Not really. Some of India's and China's cost advantages are disappearing already.
It is now more expensive to employ an engineer in Shanghai than in Slovakia.
In Indian call centres, says Jean-Herve Jenn of outsourcing specialist Convergys, wages are rising by 15-20% a year.
This is not the time to panic, says Mr Gates. "Change will not be cataclysmic... it will not happen that fast."
Remember the 1980s, he says, when everybody was worried about Japan. But it was the United States that made the running in the 1990s.
Two billion new customers
We have to realise that globalisation is both a challenge and an opportunity, says Jean-Herve Jenn.
There may be an extra one billion workers, but they come with a new market of 2.3 billion consumers in Brazil, Russia, India and China alone.
The biggest surprise, says Mr Gates, is what globalisation has done for poverty reduction in China.
Already China's and India's middle classes form a larger market than the population of the United States, argues Mr Jenn.
And the wealth is spreading.
In India, says the New York Times' Tom Friedman, there are tech islands in a sea of poverty.
"In a two hour drive out of Bangalore, one travels back 12 centuries," he says.
But only a few years back, he says, "it took just 15 minutes."
The non-flat parts of the world are getting smaller.

Whisky-infused green tea
A touch of gentle sophistication is the only way I can describe this drink. Whisky is often a masculine drink and with the gentle intones of green tea’s flavour, it becomes a cool, graceful cocktail to accompany a spicy Thai meal. Also recommended as an introduction to whisky for first time whisky drinkers. Also good as an aperitif before a spicy meal.
You’ll Need:
. 1/4 can of green tea or make your own with a green tea bag and sugar to taste
. measure of whisky or around 40ml
Mix it in a brandy glass and add ice cubes. Serve in a brandy balloon glass.
Vodka-infused pineapple and mint juice
Aha! Caught your attention, didn’t I? First of all, for me, mint is always a great way to soothe burning tongues. Pineapple, well, a source of prickly flavours that literally tickles the tips of my tongue. Mix those two, a perfect way to forget that the small killer chillies often used in Thai dishes are numbing my senses most spectacularly. When vodka is added, what can I say, a great forget-it-all mix!
YOU’LL NEED:
. 2 thick slices of pineapples
. 4-5 mint leaves
. 1 measure of vodka or around 40ml
. a dash of sugar to taste
Blend the pineapple with the mint leaves and sugar, then add vodka and ice cubes. Serve in a martini glass.
Suggestion: Blend in ice cubes to create a smoothie.
Suggestion:
Besides whisky, brandy would also do the job quite well.

Recalling Product 'Made in China'
The recent recall of China product ranging from foods to toys and more... is China's product unsafe to be used??? I found this phrase funny: "Toll 34 after China bridge collapsed "like beancurd"", this line is taken from the article printed regarding China's recent tragedy that caused the death of 40 people (the death toll is rising)... You meant that even China's infrastructure is unsafe to be used??? Hmmm... it does make you wonder either we made the right choice to let the China company to build Malaysia's second Penang bridge??? Wise or not??? The article below is taken from The Star Newspaper that is published on 15th of August, 2007.
BEIJING (Reuters) - A bridge that collapsed in China killing at least 34 people broke apart like a pat of "beancurd" because there were apparently no steel reinforcement bars, state media said on Wednesday, quoting a rescuer.
More than 1,500 people were searching for about 30 missing people following Monday's disaster on the 320-metre-long bridge on the verge of completion across the Tuo river in the southern province of Hunan, the Beijing News said.
But they held out little hope of finding survivors and health authorities were spraying disinfectant into the water to prevent the spread of disease from bodies spreading down river.

"Because the bridge and pillars have all collapsed, it will be very difficult for rescuers to find or save people buried in the debris," deputy rescue director Luo Ming was quoted as saying, adding they had to blast open the concrete to retrieve bodies.
Twenty-two injured, mostly workers building the bridge, were in a state of shock, the newspaper said.
"They are generally very scared. Some are unconscious, and others who can talk are very tense," a doctor was quoted as saying.
Most parts of scenic Fenghuang county have had their water supplies cut off since the accident as the collapse of the bridge damaged water pipelines, it added.
Police have detained a construction manager and a project supervisor for questioning. Premier Wen Jiabao urged the local government to deal with the issue "seriously", the newspaper said.
The work safety and quality watchdogs were investigating the cause of the collapse, but the newspaper quoted a rescue worker as saying that the bridge was mainly built of stone and concrete.
"No reinforced steel bars were seen in the collapsed bridge supports. It was like a knife cutting through tofu (beancurd)," Hou Jiaping, a rescue worker, was quoted as saying.
Pictures in newspapers supported his comments. Sections of the bridge lay flat on the ground, lumps of rock bursting through the concrete and no steel bars to be seen.
An editorial in the official China Daily on Tuesday warned that thousands of the country's bridges were unsafe.
"If left unrepaired, these bridges may crumble at any time, wreaking economic havoc and possibly claiming human lives," it said.

You meant this little shiny thing is not frisbees??? The Compact Discs and it is 25 years old
I believe that with the era of MP3 Player i.e. iPOD, many people have to forget about the CD aka the Compact disc... and with the recent invention of DVD, Blu-ray and etc,CD was kind of dethroned from its unique position. My first encounter with CD was back in 1990... and my first owned CD was Richard Clyderman's piano CD...and the rest is history...give and take... what will we do in a world without CD??? What do you think?
Compact disc hits 25th birthday
(Taken from BBC.COM, Friday, 17 August 2007, 11:07 GMT 12:07 UK )
History of the CD
Exactly 25 years ago the world's first compact disc was produced at a Philips factory in Germany, sparking a global music revolution.
More than 200 billion CDs have been sold worldwide since then and it remains the dominant format despite the growth in digital downloads.
The CD was jointly developed by Philips and Sony and the disc has also become a key storage method for computer users.
The first CD produced was The Visitors by Abba.
Piet Kramer, who was a member of the optical group at Philips during the disc's development, said: "When Philips teamed up with Sony to develop the CD, our first target was to win over the world for the CD.
"We did this by collaborating openly to agree on a new standard. For Philips, this open innovation was a new approach and it paid off."
He said the companies had never imagined that the computing and entertainment industries would also opt for the CD as a storage system for content.
Jacques Heemskerk, who was one of the senior engineers involved with the optical side of CD players, said the team knew they were building a revolutionary product.
"It was revolutionary in many fields - the optics were new, the disc was new. At the start of development there wasn't even a laser that would work well enough for our needs.
"The most advanced laser at the time had a lifespan of only 100 hours."
He said the company had always planned on the format lasting at least 20 to 25 years.
"That was the model we had in mind although it seems that CD is going to last a lot longer than that. For many people the CD is still the original format, with others being derivative or back-ups."
The two companies began work on the format in 1979 and targetted a disc which could hold an hour of audio. The capacity was extended to 74 minutes, however, to accommodate a complete performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, forcing the disk to be made slightly larger."
We were suspicious and so were their engineers
Jacques Heemskerk, retired Philips engineer, on Philips working with Sony
"I always wish we had stuck with the original plan for an 11cm disc; it would have been more suited to the on-the-go age," said Mr Heemskerk.
He said that it had been a big culture shock for Philips when they had allied with Sony.
"The world was not as globalised as it is today. Our management had told us to be as open as possible and to share everything because that was the only way to have success.
"But we were suspicious and so were their engineers. But after a few days it became clear we could work together."
He added: "There were other companies working on similar technologies, so there was pressure.
"We always knew we could make the product but it was always about making it for the right cost and at scale."
The first CDs went on sale in November 1982 and were mainly classical recordings.
Classical music lovers were believed to be more affluent than pop and rock music fans, and Philips thought they would be more inclined to pay the price for the more expensive CDs and the very expensive CD-players,
The first models cost 2,000 Dutch guilders, about £1,000 at today's rate, taking into account inflation.
"When Chilean pianist Claudio Arrau recorded one of the first CDs for Polygram we discovered that he was grunting and panting while playing. Before on vinyl you didn't hear that but on CD it was crystal clear," said Frank van den Berg, a former member of the Polygram CD development task force.
In the last 10 years CD sales have been dropping worldwide while digital download sales are rising rapidly.
According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), digital sales will account for a quarter of all worldwide music sales by 2010.
CD sales in the UK have dropped 10% in the first half of this year, while download purchases have increased by 50%.
Richard Gooch, head of technology at IFPI, said: "CDs remain a very popular format for buying music in the digital era - indeed as CDs are a digital format they actually kick-started the digital age.
""The CD remained the most popular Christmas present in Britain last year. Despite the rise of downloading we expect that the CD will be here for many years to come."
Mr Heemskerk said CDs remained his format of choice.
"I don't have an iPod, although my youngest son uses one. But CDs are still his preferred format and he copies them on to his MP3 player."

An irritating Voice
It defeats the purpose, when a politician keep nagging the government and not able to do anything about it... like people have been immuned to his/her constant nagging. And you can read his blogs everyday, where he blasted the government, the politicians and the PM.
As a person, I really pay my respect to him, because for many people his party is the only party that pulled the strongest opposition to the government. But, frankly speaking, he is not the voice of the rakyat.
The question here is: Why so many talks and no actions about it? For example, if you know that the road is dangerous to the rakyat and not doing anything about it. Then when bad things do happened, you only talked about it... it kind of like the Chinese saying, "pulling the back leg".
I believe if everyone in his party, work on one issue each, and not only 'talk when happened' , Malaysia will have a better 'check and balance' in their political system. And less bad things will happened....Who I am talking about? The party with a 'rocket brand'...
Don't get me wrong, I do not belong to any political group. This is just a suggestion.

Reflection of the Day
"Even a person who does not believe in god may go to heaven, but a person who does not believe in himself, there is no place for him even in hell."
-Swami Vivekananda.
Do you believe this is a good quote? I think it is because if we even doubt ourselves, what is the world to you? A living hell!!!

Should prostitution be legalized?
Can anyone tell me what is the oldest PROFESSION in the world? The answer is prostitution... it is the taboo of many cultures, especially to our fellow muslim friends... but it is the truth...
I heard this topic this morning through the radio and did some readings on it... the answer will not be the best answer: because for some people it is for the lesser of two evils... why do I said this? Let's take these examples which people have post on the UNICHEF... what can be concluded:
PROS
1. The rape cases can be greatly lowered
2. Prostitute will have more rights and protected
3. Corruptions will be greatly cut
4. It can be taxed
5. Child prostitute will not happened
6. The reduction of STDs and AIDs due to medical priviliges and rights, like what is happening in Thailand
7. Criminal syndicates will be greatly reduced
and MORE...
The CONS:
1. Against religions
2. Against morality
3. Encouragement of the trade
and MORE...
So, what do you think about the PROS and CONS?
My comment, unfortunately it is a 'YES'. This is because by looking at our present society, I think it is best to be legalized so that the bad elements surrounding the society can be reduced...like corruption, crime syndicates, rape cases (especially this one, it is greatly increased) and more. But, I don't see it will happen to Malaysia, not in another 10 years and so.

The demise of the oldest person in the world
World's oldest person, Yone Minagawa, dies
TOKYO (AP) - Yone Minagawa, who became the world's oldest person earlier this year, has died at a nursing home in southwestern Japan, an official said Tuesday. She was 114.
Minagawa, who raised four sons and a daughter on her own by peddling flowers and vegetables, died Monday afternoon, said Toshiro Tachibana, an official at the nursing home in the former mining town of Fukuchi.
The attending physician gave old age as the cause of death, he said.
"Her appetite had been declining recently and her energy fading, so the family had asked us to make her as comfortable as possible. The death was not sudden,'' Tachibana said.
Born on Jan. 4, 1893, Minagawa was named the world's oldest person by the Guinness Book of World Records in January following the death of Emma Faust Tillman, also 114, in the United States.
Minagawa outlived all of her children except one daughter, and has seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, according to the nursing home.
Yone Minagawa receives the certificate identified as the world's oldest person by the Guinness Book of World Records at Fukuchi town in Fukuoka Prefecture (State), southwestern Japan in July, 2007. Minagawa died at a nursing home in southwestern Japan, a home official said Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007. She was 114
Japan has one of the world's longest average life spans - a factor often attributed to a healthy diet rich in fish and rice.
The world's oldest man is also Japanese - Tomoji Tanabe, 111, born on Sept. 18, 1895.
Tanabe lives in the southern city of Miyazaki, according to Guinness World Records.
In 2006, Japanese women set a new record for life expectancy at 85.81 years, while men live an average of about 79 years.
The number of Japanese living beyond 100 has almost quadrupled in the past 10 years and is soon expected to surpass 28,000, the government announced last September.
There are more active centenarians than before, and the rapidly graying population is adding to concerns over Japan's overburdened public pension system.
Fukuchi is about 840 kilometers (520 miles) southwest of Tokyo.
(Taken from The Star Newspaper 14/08/2007)
The debate here:
1.It is good to live that long?
2.If you have the choice, do you want to live that long?
My answer:
1. Well, if I am able to live everyday to the fullest, why not?
2. Yes and No.
How about you?

PD's Gathering
The gathering has been a success. It has been a good gathering because it seemed that everyone is enjoying themselves. At first, due to misdirections (by counting the numbers of traffic lights is a big mistakes), basically everyone were lost. But, we found the place and at the same time able to 'pick' some mangoes (not ripe, but it is still okay)... we went back to do the BBQ. Although the chicken wings were not totally marinated (not enough spices and sauces, I did not do it), we were able to enjoy alot of it (poor chickens), prawns, cuttle fishs and potatoes. The leftover was the chicken wings which we used for breakfast. We played games and etc until the next morning. Actually we sneak out in the morning when the other guys still asleep and have breakfast at a old fashion 'dim sum' house. Then we went back and played games. I was put in charged of making breakfast. So, I put a cup of chivas, oyster sauce, honey, soy sauce and white pepper powder into the leftover chicken wings and fried them with oil. Scramble eggs and sausages were the next item.
Then, we continue to play some games and check out at 1pm. The best outcomes from this gathering for me is to able to get LTY back to the circle of friends from his 'babysitting' of her new baby gal.
Overall, it is a good gathering.

Wassup so far...
I received an interesting SMS from one of the old college mates on Wednesday nite. It said: ... I wish to tell you for a long time. But I don't dare to... I will be getting married next year. U are invited. My church wedding is on March 1st, 2008... blah blah blah, and the final word is, Could you come?
Well, she's my first official ex-gal friend... we split up in a bad term, but we are able to keep in touch as friend. It has been 10 years... 10 long years... at first I am pretty happy about the news, but as I think about the SMS, I became angry. Why? I was thinking in my head, "Am I so bad that I will be angry on this happy occassion?" I am not.
I love the phrase, " if you love someone, let them be free...' , maybe that's why I post the poem on letting go on the last blog.
I think I have grown up to forget and forgive.., besides, I am busy with my works and my companies now, that I really don't have time to think about this small thing.
So, I will like to congrats CS on her wedding... Sure, I will be there for the church wedding...
ADDITIONAL NOTE: As one of the five closest college mates that I have in Inti College, it seemed that I am the last one in the group to get marry...man this does not look good, but again I will like to quote Oscar Wilde and Benjamin Tillet (with a smirk):
"Men marry because they are tired; women because they are curious."
"God help the man who won't marry until he finds a perfect woman, and God help him still more if he finds her."
(I think YL will laugh on this quote)

Poem on letting go
LETTING GO TAKES LOVE
To let go does not mean to stop caring,
it means I can't do it for someone else.
To let go is not to cut myself off,
it's the realization I can't control another.
To let go is not to enable,
but allow learning from natural consequences.
To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means
the outcome is not in my hands.
To let go is not to try to change or blame another,
it's to make the most of myself.
To let go is not to care for,
but to care about.
To let go is not to fix,
but to be supportive.
To let go is not to judge,
but to allow another to be a human being.
To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,
but to allow others to affect their destinies.
To let go is not to be protective,
it's to permit another to face reality.
To let go is not to deny,
but to accept.
To let go is not to nag, scold or argue,
but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.
To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires,
but to take each day as it comes and cherish myself in it.
To let go is not to criticize or regulate anybody,
but to try to become what I dream I can be.
To let go is not to regret the past,
but to grow and live for the future.
To let go is to fear less and love more
Remember: The time to love is short

Letting Go

For the best
Or the worse
I don't know
Everything change for a reason
From the smiles
To frowns
With all the ups and downs
Letting go is the hardest thing to do
Of the person you love the most
But knowing in might be
Only for the best
When you the one that caused all the pain
Wondering why he never left
When he's the one who should have said it's over
But your love for him won't let it go on forever
Because he deserve everything that he giving you
That you never return
All you can do now is walk away
And hold on to the memory
Because you thought being together might make you strong
But now realize you must have been wrong
Because everything you do turn out to be wrong
Wishing there were something you could do or say
But you not sure he would even consider another day
But yet why should he
When you did wrong
As you try to let go of him
But at night he fill your mind so much
All you can do is cry
And awake the next day with him still on your mind
But you should have known it was coming to an end
When you start getting that feeling inside that you about to lose
But like someone said
Love start with a smile
Grows with a kiss
And end in a tear
Which is so true
Because I guess who all love must part
When things been wrong for so long
And letting go is the best
Letting Go (I love this poem the best)
by Judy Burnette
How do you walk away from someone you love
And take the road of friend;
Can you reroute the course you have taken
And start over once again?
I don't really want to let you go
But inside me I know I must;
The times we've loved . . . the times you've left
My heart says stay . . . but it's my mind I must trust.
We have shared so much together
Laughter . . . fun times . . . tears;
Yet sometimes we can't turn back time
We must walk away, and allow ourselves to heal.
I know one day you will be happy
And your soulmate you will find;
I know we each have one out there
Even if for now . . . only in our minds.
May life be gentle with you
May God's best come your way;
And on some quiet tomorrow
You will realize things were better this way.

Rare river dolphin 'now extinct'
How many more damage that we can do to mother earth?
Taken from BBC news (Link:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6935343.stm)
Rare river dolphin 'now extinct'
An extensive survey of its habitat failed to find any sign of the baiji
A freshwater dolphin found only in China is now "likely to be extinct", a team of scientists has concluded.
The researchers failed to spot any Yangtze river dolphins, also known as baijis, during an extensive six-week survey of the mammals' habitat.
The team, writing in the Royal Society Biology Letters journals, blamed unregulated fishing as the main reason behind the dolphins' demise.
But the WWF campaign group said the research was not conclusive.
"WWF does not think that the baiji dolphin can be declared extinct or 'effectively extinct' because the search was conducted within a short period of time over a limited area of the river," said a spokesman.
He said a species cannot be formally classed as extinct until no animal has been found in the wild for 50 years - but the last report of a wild baiji dolphin was verified in 2004.
The World Conservation Union's Red List of Threaten Species currently classifies the creature as "critically endangered".
We have yet to take full responsibility in our role as guardians of the planet
Dr Sam Turvey,
Zoological Society of London
Sam Turvey of the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), one of the paper's co-authors, described the findings as a "shocking tragedy".
"The Yangtze river dolphin was a remarkable mammal that separated from all other species over 20 million years ago," Dr Turvey explained.
"This extinction represents the disappearance of a complete branch of the evolutionary tree of life and emphasises that we have yet to take full responsibility in our role as guardians of the planet."
If confirmed, it would be the first extinction of a large vertebrate for over 50 years.
'Incidental impact'
The species (Lipotes vexillifer) was the only remaining member of the Lipotidae, an ancient mammal family that is understood to have separated from other marine mammals, including whales, dolphins and porpoises, about 40-20 million years ago.
The white, freshwater dolphin had a long, narrow beak and low dorsal fin; lived in groups of three or four and fed on fish.
The team carried out six-week visual and acoustic survey, using two research vessels, in November and December 2006.
"While it is conceivable that a couple of surviving individuals were missed by the survey teams," the team wrote, "our inability to detect any baiji despite this intensive search effort indicates that the prospect of finding and translocating them to a [reserve] has all but vanished."
The scientists added that there were a number of human activities that caused baiji numbers to decline, including construction of dams and boat collisions.
"However, the primary factor was probably unsustainable by-catch in local fisheries, which used rolling hooks, nets and electrofishing," they suggested.
"Unlike most historical-era extinctions of large bodied animals, the baiji was the victim not of active persecution but incidental mortality resulting from massive-scale human environmental impacts - primarily uncontrolled and unselective fishing," the researchers concluded.

Famous quotes
"Can any know what fate is his?
Yet have I felt throughout my life,
The day would come at last to quit
The calm retreat for toil and strife."
大梦谁先觉?平生我自知。
草堂春睡足,窗外日迟迟。
By Zhuge Liang... an ancient well known strategist. It is an interesting quote.
The other famous quotes is from a Japanese Zen Master...
PREOCCUPIED WITH A SINGLE LEAF, YOU WON’T SEE THE FOREST, PREOCCUPIED WITH A SINGLE TREE, AND YOU WILL MISS THE ENTIRE FOREST…
I am just reflecting on these two sayings today.

Why have sex with thee? Let me count the ways
Posted by Stephen Shankland
Update: I added more detail from the study itself and some of the reasons it spotlights.
No doubt we all oversimplify the world a bit, but University of Texas-Austin researchers have found that there are way more reasons people have sex than one might expect.
Specifically, 237 reasons.
Helpfully, the researchers did boil the list down to four major factors--physical, goal-based, emotional and insecurity-based--and 13 minor ones, the university said Tuesday. Researchers David Buss and Cindy Meston described the motivations in the August issue of the Archives of Sexual Behavior.
"Why people have sex is extremely important, but rarely studied. Surprisingly, many scientists assume the answer is obvious, but people have different reasons for having sex, some of which are rather complex," Buss said in a statement.
The top reason both men and women gave was that "I was attracted to the person," but some motivations were ranked very differently by the two sexes. The study authors found an "astonishing" 123 of the 237 motivations were cited more frequently by one sex or the other. Topping the list was "The person wore revealing clothes," which as social stereotypes might lead one to expect was cited by men more often than women.
More specifically, men had lots of reasons for sex that women didn't rate as highly.
"Men showed significantly greater endorsement of having sex due to physical reasons...and simply because the opportunity presented itself. Men more than women reported having sex as a way to improve their social status. Finally, men exceeded women on endorsing a variety of utilitarian reasons for sex," the study said.
In contrast, "Women exceeded men on only three of the 237 reasons: "I wanted to feel feminine"; "I wanted to express my love for the person"; "I realized that I was in love."
Among the reasons that subjects gave researchers for two studies on the matter:
• I wanted to feel closer to God.
• I wanted to get a promotion.
• I wanted to feel connected.
• I wanted to keep my partner from straying.
• I wanted to have a baby.
• I wanted to give someone else a sexually transmitted disease.
• I wanted the attention.
• I wanted to break up a rival's relationship.
• It seemed like good exercise.
• I wanted to defy my parents.
• I wanted to change the topic of conversation
• The person was famous and I wanted to be able to say I had sex with him/her.
• I wanted to end the relationship.
• I wanted to communicate at a "deeper" level.
• My partner kept insisting.
• I was bored.

Stole this joke from YL, but good jokes should be passed around, right?
Job Placement
Taken from YL's blog... hope she won't kill me for that.
Proper job placement:
1. Put 400 bricks in a closed room.
2. Put your new hires in the room and close the door.
3. Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours.
4. Then analyze the situation:
If they are counting the bricks, put them in the Accounting Department.
If they are recounting them, put them in Auditing.
If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, put them in Engineering.
If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them in Planning.
If they are throwing the bricks at each other, put them in Operations.
If they are sleeping, put them in Security.
If they have broken the bricks into pieces, put them in Information Technology.
If they are sitting idle, put them in Human Resources.
If they say they have tried different combinations, they are looking for more, yet not a brick has been moved, put them in Sales.
If they have already left for the day, put them in Management.
If they are staring out of the window, put them in Strategic Planning.
If they are talking to each other, and not a single brick has been moved, congratulate them and put them in Top Management.

The Birthday
It was a memorable birthday yesterday... I have my birthday on July 7, where I have my dinner at KLCC with my brother and his girlfriend. We were having our dinner at San Francisco Pizza... for starter we have the artichoke and spinach dip, peking duck pizza, another pizza which I can't quite remember the name, fettuccine with tequila sauce, Marinara Marsala sauce spaghetti and a bottle of Cabernet saugvinon for drinks. I foot the bill because it is unfair for my brother to pay the bill. However, he got me a book which I will be using soon. Thanks bro.
Then, I went out with friends to the mamak stall before hitting the bed at 3:30am. Woke up at 7am and took a shower and hit the road to reach the place that I think I will be skinned alive. But turned out it was an eventful activities. We played paint ball at Bukit Jalil. We have 14 players, Khoo Teck Kheng aka Katak aka Baby (by his wife), Mrs. Katak (Jenny) aka The Angry Wife, Claire the cutey and a very good sister or Mrs. Katak, Victor, Tall Guy (Go Lo), Vic Kang, Ah Yang (He has the same birthday), Min Siang aka Elephant aka Big Bird, Jen Hang aka Specky, Sa Yu aka Sayur, Lim See How aka SEE HOW (SHIT PIPE direct translation, but he is damn good at this game), Ah Ben, Sun Kok Heng aka Sa Kok and me. We split into two: Jenny, Jen Han, Go Lo, Lim See How, Ah Ben, Vic Kang and me. We are considered the underdog... but luckily we have See How. He is quite good at the game. We think out of some strategies because it is not like some mindless game. But the strategy turned out to be good because we kind of massacre the other team 5-0, yes 5 nails.... hahaha, in their faces. On that day, we finished up almost 4000 pellets ( can't call it bullet), but it was good especially the elimination game. No, YL, I not badly shot, only like 10 shots. And I also think someone up there really like me because in one round, I am able to catch a flag, and I am able to walk, yes I meant I walked back to our base without a shot, and that is the final flag for our round 3 games.
We went to Claire place to take a bath before having lunch in Puchong's food court. The food there is not that great, but the company of friends is good. We have basically like 20 dishes of food on the table. And we have our meals for like an hour and half. I have to send two of the guys back to Seremban, because they been ditch by our friend, Leslie Cheung aka Tong Yuen. Because I thought I will be driving to KLCC to shop at Banana Republic, but for 'brothers', we cannot argue much.
At 3:33 we reach Seremban. Jen Han decided to hang out at my place and suggested me to get more furniture from IKEA to match my status, which I find baseless because I don't really need that much of furniture. Then I send Jen Han back to his house at 5pm.
I was thinking to have my dinner by myself... although my father asked me to join him for dinner, but I was like 'I am too tired'. So, I cook by myself some Chinese fettuccine with soup. Then Chiew Kim Cheong aka Tai Chiew (Big Chilies) and his family showed up with some cheese cakes. It was his birthday on July 7, 2007. Yup, triple 7s. We have some cheese cake and I made some cooktails for drinks. Vodka, Merlot, Apple with Aloe Vera, Ice Cubes and some Perrier water are the ingredients. We have some chit chat until 9:45pm regarding some business opportunities. Yup, we worked on our birthday too. Then, I watch some chinese dramas before sleeping.
So, that was my 29th birthday... and don't worry for Chinese we have another birthday coming up, hahaaha! And for next year, it will be a bigger event, because I will be 30.
June 30, 2007
It has been a while that I have put in a some writing on this blog. I am happy to announce that I am back on track... I lost some weight, I have started to make some new dishes again, I found a new passion for my work again, and many more... Now, what I really need to focus is my new house. I have put a new coat of paint at the exterior of my house, which I think there still need a lot of touch up. I think I am going to put some gel stone at the front of my house as decoration which is cool.
I will be 29 in few more days... man, 29 years old. I will be 30 next year... but due to the new project, I will not able to celebrate it in style. Yup, another undertaking of new project, where I have to write out the proposal by next week while on the trip to Terenganu...It is a drag... but I WILL DO IT!!! JUST DO IT!!!
Get to know two new female friends (not gal friends)this week. They are friendly and pretty helpful. Good to know them during my business trip. Anywhere will be at the airport later and hope to get some GODIVA chocolates for myself....hahahahahah!
Hmmm.... if we start counting, there are too many 'I' in this blog... please be kind to kick some sense into me

TuRning OveR a NeW LeAf
To turn over a new leaf is not something that many people will like to do because it sounds like that you have done something wrong... yes, I did. I have been acting like a fool among friends and buddies which I should not have done it in the first place... I really wishes that I did not do what I have done... damage control is not something that will work in this situation and we know that... crystal clear. However, I will declare that I will try to turn over a new leaf, step by step.... from everything to something I cherished most...
05-06-07
Today date is odd... 5,6,7... don't you think it is funny? I think we have to wait for a long time for this to happened again... maybe another 100 years. So, it will be good if we leave a few words here.

El Cactus in Port Dickson, Malaysia
First of all, the impression of the place is important.... I will give it a 4 out of 5, because it does look a like of an authentic Mexican Villa for a restaurant... the place is located opposite Corus Hotel in Port Dickson(PD). It is a pretty nice place for Mexican food if you think of it...but the food came out with a bit disappointment.
The drink... they don't have corona for beer on the list...it is a famous beer drink in US and Mexico... have to ask them to put on the list... Margarita...not very good...you will get brain freeze due to it... senor, not too much ice...more booze please. Nacho, down to drain. The owner admit that due to demographic, it is better to use cheap cheese for the nachos. What kind of confession is that? And he is so proud of telling it too. Does he meant that Seremban people are cheap? I know I am not... You have to cut the chai or green onion to smaller bits, have to send the cook to Mexico... Then came the chicken fajita. Not enough sauce on the chicken on the hot plate... too much onion. The dressing is too little. Man, also you need to give me more jalapeno, and please get some habanero sauce.... the food is not that good. Then, the fatal mistake, cash only...luckily I brought some cash that day, if not I will be washing dishes at the restaurant and that will be bad and mean....
Overall, the food is 2 out of 5.

Some dirty jokes taken from Mr Chris H.
Kenny - every parents dream child......................
I like this kid!!!
A teacher asks her class, 'If there are 5 birds sitting on a fence and you shoot one of them, how many will be left?' She calls on little KENNY .
He replies, 'None, they will all fly away with the first gunshot.'
The teacher replies, 'The correct answer is 4, but I like your thinking.'
Then little KENNY says, 'I have a question for YOU.
There are 3 women sitting on a bench having ice cream:
One is delicately licking the sides of the triple scoop of ice cream . The second is gobbling down the top and sucking the cone. The third is biting the top of the ice cream.
Which one is married?'
The teacher, blushing a great deal, replied, 'Well, I suppose the one that's gobbled down the top and sucked the cone.'
To which Little KENNY replied, 'The correct answer is 'the one with the wedding ring on,' but I like your thinking.'
LITTLE KENNY ON MATH (Part 2)
Little KENNY returns from school and says he got an F in arithmetic.
'Why?' asks the father?
'The teacher asked 'How much is 2x3,'' I said '6', replies KENNY .
'But that's right!' says his dad.
'Yeah, but then she asked me 'How much is 3x2?''
'What's the f..... difference?' asks the father.
'That's what I said!'
LITTLE KENNY ON ENGLISH !
Little KENNY goes to school, and the teacher says, 'Today we are going to learn multi-syllable words, class. Does anybody have an example of a multi-sy llable word?'
KENNY says 'Mas-tur-bate.'
Miss Rogers smiles and says, 'Wow, little KENNY , that's a mouthful.'
Little KENNY says, 'No, Miss Rogers, you're thinking of a blowjob.'
LITTLE KENNY ON GRAMMAR !
Little KENNY was sitting in class one day.
All of a sudden, he needed to go to the bathroom.
He yelled out, 'Miss Jones, I need to take a piss!!'
The teacher replied, 'Now, KENNY , that is NOT the proper word to use in this situation.
The correct word you want to use is 'urinate.'
Please use the word 'ur-i-nate' in a sentence correctly, and I will allo w you to go.'
Little KENNY , thinks for a bit, and then says, 'You're an eight, but if you had bigger boobs , you'd be a TEN!'
LITTLE KENNY ON GRAMMAR (Part 2)
One day, during lessons on proper grammar, the teacher asked for a show of hands from those who could use the word 'beautiful' in the same sentence twice.
First, she called on little Suzie, who responded with, 'My father bought my mother a beautiful dress and she looked beautiful in it.'
'Very good, Suzie,' replied the teacher. She then called on little Michael.
'My mommy planned a beautiful banquet and i t turned out beautifully.'
She said, 'Excellent, Michael!' Then the teacher reluctantly called on little KENNY .
'Last night at the dinner table, my sister told my father that she was pregnant, and he said 'Beautiful, just f...... beautiful!''
LITTLE KENNY ON GETTING OLDER
Little KENNY was sitting on a park bench munching on one candy bar after another.
After the 6th one a man on the bench across from him said, 'Son, you know eating all that candy isn't good for you. It will give you acne, rot your teeth, and make you fat.'
Little KENNY replied, 'My grandfather lived to be 107 years old.'
The man asked, 'Did your grandfather eat 6 candy bars at a time?'
Little KENNY answered, ' No, he minded his own f....... business.'

Banting Beggar's Chicken at Bukit Jugra, Banting, Selangor
As a picky eater, I have to disagreed with Jason (Chinese food promoter)that the Beggar's chicken over here is good... it is not. Let's read the story of beggar's chicken which I took from: http://www.louwailou.com.cn/english/chick.asp
It happened long long ago. The federal dynasty imposed heavy tax on civilians, and people were deprived of everything. Family broken up, they strayed everywhere as beggars. One day, a beggar was floating in Changsu of Jiangsu Province, cold and hungry. Little by little, he couldn't stand up and fainted. His fellow sufferers were trying to save him. They collected wood and burned it to warm him up. One fellow sufferer took out the only remained chicken and prepared to cook for him. But without any tools to cooking, they were very worried. Suddenly, one of them got an idea. He suggested wrapping up the chicken with slush, and putting the mud pie into fire to bake. They continuously collected wood and baked mud pie. Finally, when the chicken was fully cooked, they began to knock open mud. To everyone's surprise, the feather was also falling off with mud, and the chicken smelled very nice. The aroma attracted all neighbors around. They came and couldn't stop praising the unique cooking style and the unique taste.
Next, the other story taken from SuZhou China http://www.suzhou.gov.cn said that the
Chang-shu Beggar-chicken is also called stewed chicken. It is said there was a beggar in Yu-shan, Chang-shu. He once caught a chicken but he had no cookers or condiments with him. So he killed and emptied the chicken. Without plucking it up, he daubed it with mud and roasted in fire. After it was ready he rejected the mud, with which the feather fell off. It turned out to be limp and fragrant when eating. Later, people seasoned such kind of chicken with condiments and produced distinct flavors. It is thus named “Beggar-chicken”.
So, from these two stories, it is said that we should be eating a manigficent chicken, but over here, we only eat a chicken that was overpowered by herbs... to make it worst, the chicken is not 'Kampung Chicken' or the so called free range chicken. I don't mind travelled to Bukit Jugra or paying the amount for the chicken... but I really do mind eating an inferior dish. The other dishes that we have were their beggar's duck...it is not good, and duck used were frozen duck . Overall, I will only give 2 out of 5 points to this restaurant. So be warned, don't give a high expectation for the food.

May 1st and May 2nd
May day May day... not an easy day to swallowed because for many people, it will be holidays, but for me it May 1st will be the day my grandfather passed away for the 21st years according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar. I and my brother were reluctant to go to my grandma's house because we don't quite like our grandma. Don't know why...because we always have a feeling that she don't like me and my younger brother because of my mother. So, the last straws was back in 1995 because of an incident, we (me and my younger brother) never stepped to her house ever again... it was funny because when we are there, we were asked why we never visit anymore... well it seemed that it is our fault and she is blameless for it... but we did not uttered a word about anything, just saying we have other things to do and left the place like a wind...
May 2nd, my father's birthday...he is 55 by today...
May 2nd, my father's birthday...he is 55 by today...

Something to laught at: An Indian boy on his first day at school in the US
An Indian boy on his first day at school in the US
It was the first day of school and a new student named Chandrashekhar Subrahmanyam entered the fourth grade.
The teacher said, “Let’s begin by reviewing some American History.
Who said, “Give me Liberty , or give me Death”?
She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Chandrashekhar, who had his hand up: “Patrick Henry, 1775″ he said.
“Very good!” Who said, “Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?”
Again, no response except from Chandrashekhar.” Abraham Lincoln, 1863″ said Chandrashekhar.
The teacher snapped at the class, “Class, you should be ashamed.
Chandrashekhar, who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do!”
She heard a loud whisper: “F**k the Indians,”
“Who said that?” she demanded.
Chandrashekhar put his hand up. “General Custer, 1862.”
At that point, a student in the back said, “I’m gonna puke.”
The teacher glares around and asks “All right! Now, who said that?”
Again, Chandrashekhar says, “George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991.”
Now with almost a mob hysteria someone said, “You little shit. If you say anything else, I’ll kill you.”
Chandrashekhar frantically yells at the top of his voice, “Gary Condit to Chandra Levy, 2001.”
The teacher fainted. And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, “Oh shit, we’re fucked!”
And Chandrashekhar said quietly, “George Bush, Iraq , 2005.”

It has been a week...
Wow, it has been a week since I blogged... why the delay? Well, it is just too much work and so little time... Went to KL on Saturday, a secret day off for myself. The level of stressfulness was unbearable.
But I have to thanks my friend who we called JH. He showed me the way. He is a nice guy and I wish him good luck as the regional manager for MiTV .
I went to buy many Japanese TV series and anime. Sorry, I still a nerd.
Anywhere, I have to pen off now. Will write later.

Some thoughts for the Year 2007
#10 Life is sexually transmitted.
#9 Good health is merely the slowest rate at which one can die
#8 Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without anerection, make him a sandwich.
#7 Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to usethe internet and they won’t bother you for weeks.
#6 Some people are like a slinky… not really good for anything, but youstill can’t help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.
#5 Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in the hospitaldying of nothing
#4 All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention tocriticism.
#3 Why does a slight tax increase cost you two hundred dollars, and asubstantial tax cut saves you thirty cents???
#2 In the 60’s, people took LSD to make the world weird. Now the world isso weird people take Prozac to make it normal.
AND THE (#1) NUMBER ONE THOUGHT FOR 2007:We know exactly where one cow with mad-cow-disease is located among themillions and millions of them, but we haven’t a clue as to where thousandsof Illegal immigrants and Terrorists are located. Maybe we should put theDepartment of Agriculture in charge of immigration.

Be Cool
I believe this fella have the right mind of saying that people nowaday are not cool at all... they are all stressed up especially with the new gadgets... We should learn from him.
By Christian McBride
(Growing up in Philadelphia, Christian McBride learned how to play bass from his father and uncle. His grandfather taught him how to be cool. McBride has played with jazz legends McCoy Tyner and Freddie Hubbard, as well as pop artists BeBe Winans and Sting.)
All Things Considered, January 22, 2007 · I believe people have become tighter, meaner and less tolerant than ever. I never remember people being so uncool. I don't remember people getting the third degree because they decided to wear brown shoes instead of black. If you get too close to someone on the road, they want to get out and shoot you for possibly hitting their car. What's wrong with these people?
I believe it pays to be cool. Most people in this day and age are always terribly stressed and hypersensitive to absolutely everything. They will age quickly. Cool people stay young forever.
Ten years ago, cell phones were still a luxury. People still had "land lines" for their primary phone numbers. Remember when it was okay to have dial-up? Now, people don't even bother asking for a home number anymore. Is it because we're so busy, people don't even bother being at home anymore? Or is business so important that people need to get in touch with you upon demand? Didn't people survive just fine not being contacted by their boss while having dinner with their families?
As for the Internet, it amazes me that when you walk into a Starbucks, it looks like CompUSA with all the doggone laptops and people stressing out over whatever. When people need to work on stressful work-related issues on their laptops, they go to Starbucks to drink coffee?
Me, on the other hand, I'm cool! Why do I know that? Because I sleep well at night, and I work with people who apparently like to work with me.
Now let me make something very, very clear: I'm not always cool. I've had my meltdowns in life. Once I had a musician in my band who was a little less than cool — he was flat out lazy! After 15 months of playing the same music, he never bothered to memorize it. Instead of pulling him aside and addressing the situation like a rational person would have done, I let him have it like I've never let anyone have it before. After it was over, I realized that I'd cleared the room. Everyone was so scared (or annoyed), that they just left. Well, "lazy guy" left the band and has never spoken to me ever again. I'm very sorry for that. I wish I could have that moment back, but I can't. I can only learn from that, and I try very hard not to have another meltdown, ever.
Pleasing everyone doesn't always mean saying "yes" or "that's great" or "no problem." Sometimes you have to say the opposite, but with a clear, sensible and gracious tone. Being cool is not what you say or do, but how you say or do it.
So I say, "Be cool." You'll see more. You'll learn more. You'll make better decisions. You'll be happier.

Morning Edition, February 26, 2007 · I believe we have the power to create our own happiness. I believe the real magic in the world is done by humans. I believe normal life is extraordinary.
I was sitting in my car at a stoplight intersection listening to the radio. I was, I guess, lost in the moment, thinking how happy I was to be inside my nice warm car. It was cold and windy outside, and I thought, "Life is good."
Now, this was a long light. As I waited, I noticed two people huddled together at the bus stop. To my eyes, they looked uncomfortable; they looked cold and they looked poor. Their coats looked like they came from a thrift store. They weren't wearing stuff from The Gap. I knew it because I'd been there.
The couple seemed to be doing their best to keep warm. They were huddled together, and I thought to myself, "Oh, those poor people in that punishing wind."
But then I saw their faces. Yes, they were huddling, but they were also laughing. They looked to be sharing a good joke, and suddenly, instead of pitying them, I envied them. I thought, "Huh, what's so funny?" They didn't notice the wind. They weren't worried about their clothes. They weren't looking at my car thinking, "I wish I had that."
You know when a single moment feels like an hour? Well, in that moment, I realized I had assumed this couple needed my pity, but they didn't. I assumed things were all bad for them, but they weren't. And I understood we all have the power to make moments of happiness happen.
Now, maybe that's easy for me to say. I feel lucky to have fans around the world, a house with a roof and a wife who puts up with me. But I felt this way even when I was working at Long John Silver's. I worked there for 11 years as a fry cook. When you work at a place that long, you see teenagers coming in on their first dates; then they're married; then they're bringing in their kids. You witness whole sections of people's lives.
In the beginning, it seemed like a dead end job. But at least I had a job. And frankly, it was easy. After two weeks, I knew all I needed to know, and it freed my mind. The job allowed me to dream about what my life could become.
The first year I worked there, we got robbed. I lay on the floor. I thought I was going to die. I didn't think I stood a chance. But everything turned out all right. A lot of people look at life as a series of miserable tasks, but after that, I didn't.
I believe this is something all of us can do: Try to be happy within the context of the life we are actually living. Happiness is not a situation to be longed for or a convergence of lucky happenstance. Through the power of our own minds, we can help ourselves. This I believe.""

Chimera- It is ethical or not?
I believe this is one the hottest topics of the century , from the scientist community to the human right community. Honestly, what will be your views on this. It is ethical to genetically design a sheep that carried human organs? It is fair to even do that? Sure, everyone have their own viewpoints for example one will argue that it is unfair because we are not GOD and we cannot make some freak of the nature, do we even treat this 'organism' as human because it does have 15% human? Another point of view will said, it is a good move because we can provide organs to people who needed these organs. My viewpoint... I will reserved my view right now.
"Now scientists create a sheep that's 15% human
By CLAUDIA JOSEPH - More by this author » Last updated at 21:26pm on 24th March 2007
Scientists have created the world's first human-sheep chimera - which has the body of a sheep and half-human organs.
The sheep have 15 per cent human cells and 85 per cent animal cells - and their evolution brings the prospect of animal organs being transplanted into humans one step closer.
Professor Esmail Zanjani, of the University of Nevada, has spent seven years and £5million perfecting the technique, which involves injecting adult human cells into a sheep's foetus.
Chimera: sheep have 15 per cent human cells and 85 per cent animal cells
He has already created a sheep liver which has a large proportion of human cells and eventually hopes to precisely match a sheep to a transplant patient, using their own stem cells to create their own flock of sheep.
The process would involve extracting stem cells from the donor's bone marrow and injecting them into the peritoneum of a sheep's foetus. When the lamb is born, two months later, it would have a liver, heart, lungs and brain that are partly human and available for transplant.
"We would take a couple of ounces of bone marrow cells from the patient,' said Prof Zanjani, whose work is highlighted in a Channel 4 programme tomorrow.
"We would isolate the stem cells from them, inject them into the peritoneum of these animals and then these cells would get distributed throughout the metabolic system into the circulatory system of all the organs in the body. The two ounces of stem cell or bone marrow cell we get would provide enough stem cells to do about ten foetuses. So you don't just have one organ for transplant purposes, you have many available in case the first one fails."
At present 7,168 patients are waiting for an organ transplant in Britain alone, and two thirds of them are expected to die before an organ becomes available.
Scientists at King's College, London, and the North East Stem Cell Institute in Newcastle have now applied to the HFEA, the Government's fertility watchdog, for permission to start work on the chimeras.
But the development is likely to revive criticisms about scientists playing God, with the possibility of silent viruses, which are harmless in animals, being introduced into the human race.
Dr Patrick Dixon, an international lecturer on biological trends, warned: "Many silent viruses could create a biological nightmare in humans. Mutant animal viruses are a real threat, as we have seen with HIV."
Animal rights activists fear that if the cells get mixed together, they could end up with cellular fusion, creating a hybrid which would have the features and characteristics of both man and sheep. But Prof Zanjani said: "Transplanting the cells into foetal sheep at this early stage does not result in fusion at all." "

Why we should watch The Pursuit of Happyness
First the movie's title is "The Pursuit of Happyness" and not Happiness, but you would understand why if you watch the movie.
The movie is regarding the life of Chris Gardner. From the simple 2 questions that changed a man's life. This is the spoiler of the movie:
"In 1981, Chris Gardner was a struggling salesman in little needed medical bone density scanners while his wife toiled in double shifts to support the family including their young son, Christopher. In the face of this difficult life, Chris has the desperate inspiration to try for a stockbroker internship where one in twenty has a chance of a lucrative full time career. Even when his wife leaves him because of this choice, Chris clings to this dream with his son even when the odds become more daunting by the day. Together, father and son struggle through homelessness, jail time, tax seizure and the overall punishing despair in a quest that would make Gardner a respected millionaire."
The simple two questions were: .' The two questions were: What do you do? And how do you do that?'

Malaysia radio station
How to evaluate Malaysia radio stations... for me it is a bit boring because for every hour they will be playing the same songs, again and again... how could this be happening? I still prefer to listen to National Public Radio in USA because it has more info and less crap compared to local radio channel. It is not like I am not supportive of these channels, but again listen to the way they talked, it is just plain simple.

Funny Sunday
I am supposed to work on Sunday. Woke up around 6am and watches movies on my couch until 9am. Then leave the home at 10am to pick up my mom to go to Klang for an appointment with my Uncle. Well, the meeting was postponed due to the guy that I supposed to meet, went to Ipoh for some business. I was pissed internally, but I did not said it out loud. Have some bah kuh teh for lunch and went to sleep at my 2nd Uncle's house. It was very hot for me, because I am always at the place where the ambient air is at 16 degree Celsius. I was sleeping and sweating at the same time. It was a sticky situation. Woke up at 3:30 and drive home. My mom cook a wonderful dinner and I was enjoying the dinner while watching some movies on Astro.
It is meaningful?

Saturday: Three Stories
First story
I will have to check the internal section of my company. It is not an easy task because it seemed that many people kind of neglect the human resources section, which Jack Welch have emphasized, it is similar to the heart of the company. My supervisor have troubling some of my workers and it is something hard to swallow. I have asked everyone on their opinions, and everything goes back to my supervisor... I hope he will change his character after the talk that I am going to have with him.
Second story
I am looking at some external problems, like debts of my customers. I hope that I can collect them back by the end of this month.
Third story
Been very tired of whining... what is the most possible way of taking care of it?

Heavy Rain
Wow, I thought we will never have this kind of rain again, but it is terrible. Heavy rain in Malaysia is so unpredictable anymore compared to 15 years ago. You will know when the rain is coming, and when it is not. It is like the monsoon season. It is what we called man caused phenomenon? I think it is. The truth: Human pollute the world.. and we should have nothing to hide.
The movie: Train Man or Densha Otoko
This is the basically the movie's commentary by Sanjuro:
To put it simply, the 2005 romantic comedy Train Man is a fairy tale for geeks. As derisive as that comment may sound, it's not really meant as a criticism, just a factual description. Supposedly based on a true story, Train Man (a.k.a. Densha Otoko) centers on a twenty-two year old manga enthusiast known only by the online handle "Train Man" (Takayuki Yamada). Unlucky in love for his entire life, Train Man has consoled himself to the fact that he probably won't be getting a girlfriend anytime this millennium, so he decides to embrace his nerdy fate and spend his free time prowling for toys in Akihabara.
One evening, our hero's prospects for romance begin to change when he spots a lovely woman (Miki Nakatani) being harassed by a drunken commuter. In a moment of awkward heroism, Train Man intervenes on her behalf. Although he's certainly no Superman, he does delay the drunkard long enough for security to show up. Later, to Train Man's complete surprise, the woman asks for his address so she can properly thank him for his good deed. So energized by this encounter is Train Man that he posts his story on a message board, an act which eventually earns him a faithful, albeit anonymous readership. Little does he know, however, that his story has only just begun.
Things pick up quickly when Train Man receives a set of expensive Hermes teacups in the mail. The sender? You guessed it - the woman on the train. Both ecstatic and highly confused by this surprising turn of events, Train Man turns to his online pals for help, who post back bits of advice on what his next move should be. After much debate, he finally summons up the courage to call her, and amazingly, she agrees to meet him for dinner. But in preparing for his first ever real date with a woman, Train Man smartly makes a few cosmetic adjustments on the advisement of his online peers. It isn't long before he gets a stylish haircut, purchases some designer threads, and doffs his glasses in favor of some contact lenses. The transformation from geek to chic is surprisingly fast, but no matter what he looks like, it's clear that Train Man is still a socially-inept otaku, as his jitteriness and all-around dorkiness in the presence of the woman he dubs "Hermes" is strikingly apparent. Still, Train Man begins to make progress with Hermes, but unfortunately, his deep-seated insecurities just might mess the whole thing up. It's clearly time for Train Man to grow up, but will he do it in time?
On its premise alone, Train Man is essentially a G-rated version of The 40-Year-Old-Virgin culturally suited to fit Japanese tastes. While both films maintain an underlying message that love is more important than lust, the main character in Train Man seems to operate in a world where sex isn't even something that would cross his mind, a factor which greatly contributes to the fairytale quality of the film. And while technology, particularly computers, is crucial to the plot, Train Man is, at its core, an old-fashioned romance about finding one's true love. Some may balk at the simplicity of the story, but in some ways, that's part of the charm.
As far as performances go, Takayuki Yamada makes for a fine Train Man, particularly once the She's All That-style makeover takes place. It's easy to act nerdy when the character is dressed to the nines in Akihabara geek wear, but once he makes the transformation into a more presentable stud, it would be easy for an actor to slip out of the required geekiness necessary for his performance. However, that's not the case with Yamada; the incongruity between what Train Man looks like post-makeover versus his actual behavior helps give this geek fantasy some semblance of realism. No matter how polished Train Man looks, he's still an otaku at heart.
Also carrying the film along with Yamada is Miki Nakatani, who has the unenviable task of making her character's interest in Train Man seem believable. As likeable as Train Man is as a character is, his appeal seems somewhat elusive. Yes, he's a nice guy, but he's also annoyingly skittish, and as the finale proves, a bit of a crybaby to boot. However, the "crying" scene does make for a funny reversal of expectations as Hermes must console the weeping Train Man with several comical "there, there" reassurances. And while the believability of a relationship between Hermes and Train Man is precarious at best, it would be completely unbelievable if not for Nakatani's performance. She is able to project an inner life, if not an entire past history with men for her character that is not in the script, which gives some indication of why she values Train Man so much.
One of the more interesting aspects of the film is how it focuses not only on Train Man's mission, but also on his ability to touch the lives of his readership. Among his online supporters, there's a young shut-in, a nurse who seems to be recovering from a failed relationship, three overgrown otakus who've had worse luck in life than Train Man, and a husband and wife who don't realize they're posting on the same board. As each of these characters participate in Train Man's strange coming-of-age story, his amazing strides with Hermes opens their eyes to what's missing in their own lives, showing them that if he can get a girlfriend, then just about anything is possible. Although, these "sidestories" could probably be developed even better in a television drama, the small glimmers of their lives given in Train Man are a welcome presence and enhance the main storyline immensely.
After all is said and done, Train Man is more or less just a fun little underdog story, thanks in large part to the likeable performances from its cast members. Sure, things are a bit too chaste and simplistic considering the situation, but in some ways, that's part of the appeal. Unlike the protagonist, the film Train Man may not dramatically change your life, but in its all-too-true rendering of the anxieties of dating, on some level it's sure to speak to everyone's inner geek. (Sanjuro 2006)
In conclusion, it is a pretty good movie and funny too, giving hopes to all the nerds and geeks of the world... I found it is a rare case...however, maybe sometime a little bit of courtesy can bring happiness to people especially for those people who taking trains to work.
To put it simply, the 2005 romantic comedy Train Man is a fairy tale for geeks. As derisive as that comment may sound, it's not really meant as a criticism, just a factual description. Are we rude?
"Taken from The Star, March 12, 2007
Survey: KL Courtesy level has risen
THE nation’s capital has redeemed itself in terms of courtesy level after a shocking readers' poll last year by Reader’s Digest which labelled Kuala Lumpur as the third rudest city in the world, Kosmo! reported.
The latest survey conducted by Canadian-based international rating agency Aneki.com found that Kuala Lumpur was the 33rd most polite city in the world.
New York topped the list, followed closely by Zurich and Toronto. The first of its kind, the study involved 35 cities and was done in collaboration with the United Nations and the US Central Intelligence Agency.
However, the capitals of several Malaysia neighbours fared better.
Manila stood at 22nd place while Bangkok was placed 25th, followed by Jakarta, Indonesia (27th) and Singapore (31st). Kuala Lumpur, however, beat Bucharest and Mumbai.
The Reader’s Digest’s controversial poll last year was based on simple basic manners such as opening the door for others, picking up items which have been accidentally dropped by people and smiling when serving customers. "
From the argument that I have with my friend, is 'YES'. She emphasized that she met with these rude people daily. I have another friend, who happened to be an air stewardess beg to differ. So, both of them have a good point. I have to agree and to disagree at the same time. This is because how many Malaysian guys open door for their gals? Second question is, do we evaluate Malaysian from this few criterias? The reason is we may evaluate them based on other's people cilture and not our cultures.

Lazy Sunday
I decided to let myself have a real Sunday for one time yesterday. Where basically I am not productive at all. I was watching three movies yesterday which were Ghost Rider (tried to watch it three times, but there were some technical problem), 300 and also Daddy Long Leg (Korean Version). Ghost Rider is a 'okay' movie, if you like comic character such as Spiderman or Superman. Alot of special effects and the action is actually a bit lacking. 300, well, the story have swayed a bit from the historical site, but it is still like the Gladiator story met with Sin City. Daddy Long Leg is a perfect story for Valentine day.
I also do some shopping for kitchen utensils such as a grill that was used by Japanese on the gas stove, something for the oven, and etc. Later, I did some cooking for the whole day. I was grilling the fish and also make myself some salad. Yes, I do eat vegetable. I have some sea bass, so I cook it by marinating it with citrus juice, soy sauce, white pepper, paprika, basil leaves, and etc, then I basically smoke it with tea leaves. It is pretty tasty.
That's basically my Sunday for yesterday.

The lazy Friday
Wow, feel very sleepy today, don't know why... Although I already have a cup of espresso this morning.
It is going to be a hectic Friday because I will have to work on some projects later which required alot of calculation and I meant alot of calculations. However, I hope that this project will be fruitful compared to the last calculation.
Well, this Sunday will be a bit busy because I wanted to finish up some delayed job since last January, yes, it has been that long. I have to finish these things before it bites back.
Anywhere, I will tried to update this blog everyday. I will not be a lazy bear anymore.

What is Zen and what is Mindfulness?
Zen, the Sanskrit word for meditation, is a discipline. The purpose is to clear the mind of the chaos of everyday life in order to achieve a greater state of harmony. Following are some Zen Sayings you can use as an exercise in Mindfulness...
In walking, just walk. In sitting, just sit. Above all, don't wobble.
When the day gets long and contentious, I hold fast to my breath as a tiller and take each wave as it comes.
Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the men of old; seek what they sought. Zen is your everyday thought.
The bird of paradise alights only on the hand that does not grasp.
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.
To find your way, you must close your eyes and walk in the dark.
Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is enlightenment.
The way is not difficult to discern. Seek it within.
Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes and the grass grows by itself.
Everything the same; everything distinct.

Oolong Tea
Got this from Mr. Lim's blog
OOLONG TEA……
A carrot, an egg, and a cup of Oolong tea…You will never look at a cup of Oolong the same way again.
A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.
Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed Oolong tea. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.
In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.
Then she ladled the Oolong out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, “Tell me what you see.”
“Carrots, eggs, and Oolong tea,” she replied.
Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.
Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the Oolong. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma The daughter then asked, “What does it mean, mother?”
Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The Oolong tea was unique, however. After they were in the boiling water , they had changed the water color and taste.
“Which are you?” she asked her daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a Oolong tea?
Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?
Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?
Or am I like the Oolong tea? The tea actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the tea, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a Oolong tea?
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can’t go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end, you’re the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
You might want to send this message to those people who mean something to you; to those who have touched your life in one way or another; to those who make you smile when you really need it; to those who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down; to those whose friendship you appreciate; to those who are so meaningful in your life.
If you don’t send it, you will just miss out on the opportunity to
brighten someone’s day with this message!
May we all be OOLONG TEA !!!!!!!!!

The stupid bear
Two more days mark the day of the 9th anniversary of my first puppy love... I am not naming anyone here... I know someone will kick my butt for writing this article. But,what is puppy love? According to Wikipedia:
"Puppy love is an informal term for feelings of love, particularly between young people during adolescence, so-called for its resemblance to the affection that may be felt towards a puppy dog. The term is often used in a derogatory fashion, describing emotions which are shallow and transient in comparison to other forms of love such as romantic love."
I have to admit that I did not handle it well that caused alot of heartaches in the latter day... I have to apologize to many people for that and I sincerely do...
It is all "under the carpet now", it is nothing important now... However, when this happened, this 'stupid bear' do received many supports...thank you.

The self discovery
How to solve all these problems that been piling up in your life recently? It is not an easy task. This is because we know that there are so many roads ahead, and which is the right road to be taken and which is the road less taken?
I am in one of the dilemma right now... I just took some quiz on the web and it seemeed that I have some depression problem... but first of all what is depression? This is a short excerpt from WebMD that defined depression:
Everyone at one time or another has felt depressed, sad, or blue. Being depressed is a normal reaction to loss, life's struggles, or an injured self-esteem. But sometimes the feeling of sadness becomes intense, lasting for long periods of time and preventing a person from leading a normal life. Depression that has these characteristics is a treatable medical condition called major depressive disorder, one of a number of depressive illnesses. Types of depression include: Major depression, chronic depression (dysthymia), bipolar depression, and seasonal depression (seasonal affective disorder or SAD).
According to a report from the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly 18.8 million Americans over the age of 18 suffer from major depression. Suicide, closely linked to depression, is the third leading cause of death in 10- to 24-year-olds. Unfortunately, most people never seek treatment. Left undiagnosed and untreated, depression can worsen, lasting for years and causing untold suffering, and possibly even result in suicide.
What Are the Symptoms of Depression?
These are some of the signs and symptoms of depression that you should be aware of:
* Sadness
* Loss of enjoyment from things that were once pleasurable
* Loss of energy
* Feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness
* Difficulty concentrating
* Difficulty making decisions
* Insomnia or excessive sleep
* Stomachache and digestive problems
* Sexual problems (for example, decreased sex drive)
* Aches and pains (such as recurrent headaches)
* A change in appetite causing weight loss or gain
* Thoughts of death or suicide
* Attempting suicide
Well, I have several of the major symptoms...and again the solution is to do more exercises.
I am making more self discovery about myself and I hope that solving this problem will make me a better man.

The future of the company
I am looking at the cloud that been dangling on my mind regarding the future of my company... where should I go from here? It is not an easy question to be answered because we know the phrase "you have to ask the right question" for the answer to be there...
The earning from last month was pretty impressive, but I really hope the momentum will be there... but the demands from each sides really killing me and it is not an easy thing to keep the urges and pressure down.

The dreadful taste of being fat
I have been called fat boy from a time that I can't remembered when... and I will be 30 years old next year, and I am thinking of losing alot of weight where my waist size can be the 34" that I have when I was in the States. My current waist size is 40. And this will be a tough battle, but with my new determination, I believe I can win.
My brother have taste the dreadful taste when he has spine problem. The first doctor told him that he has to have surgery... fortunately when we took him to consult another doctor, his comment is: you are too fat, and that is the cause of your pain. He was right, his weight has ballooned for the 20kg for 2 years time... no thanks to his girl friend. Yes, guys you have to be very careful because your girl friends will be one of the contributor of your weight. Remember the situation such as: I can't eat that much or Can you finished my portion and etc.???
I was thinking of this dreadful question when I was sleeping this morning... can I really lose the extra 20kg by myself?
I am a bit worry now...
